Supporting Our Future: OSA’s Contribution to ‘She Believes in Me’

Oct 23, 2025

Oysters Sand Arbor (OSA), Lodge #810, has always prioritized the well-being of the community it serves. Recently, this commitment was showcased during a joint effort involving four officers, one member, and two dedicated volunteers. Their initiative underscores the importance of support systems in cultivating confidence among the youth.

Engagement with ‘She Believes in Me’ Project

In an inspiring event held in Herndon, VA, OSA organized and participated in the ‘She Believes in Me’ project meeting. Key figures at the meeting included Renee Gorman, the founder and president of She Believes in Me, Teri Taylor, the executive director, and Elena Porubin, who serves as the Believers Life Skills Program Coordinator. OSA’s president, January D. Umayam, shared an overview of Gleaner Life Insurance Society, while Vice President Patrick Anderson introduced the mission and vision of OSA.

A Meaningful Donation

During this impactful gathering, OSA donated $400.00 to support the ‘She Believes in Me’ initiatives. Renee Gorman, who has garnered media recognition for her passionate advocacy, emphasized the necessity of building a strong support system for young children. This project aims to empower children to become confident and resilient community members. The collaboration between OSA and ‘She Believes in Me’ is a testament to how collective effort can lead to positive change.
